All across the country people are asking this question, “what time do polls open.” In my state, Virginia the polls open at 6:00 am. This is from the Virginia State Election Board website…
When is a good time to vote?
That depends. According to the State Board of Election site, “Election Day polls are traditionally busier from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., during the lunch time hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and after work from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.” Those wishing to avoid long lines should aim to cast their vote during the less busy times during polling hours.
I would imagine that these busiest times would be pretty consistent around the country but your State Board of Elections website will probably have some additional information for you area.
It seems that many states polls don’t open until 7:00 am. You will have to Google your states election site to find out what time your specific state’s polls open. I was unable to find a single source reference to the question, “what time do polls open.”
I was able to find this neat map below that shows the times the polls close all across the country. As to the question of “what time do polls open” you are on your own. This is an important election. Please find the time to vote. It’s your duty as an American citizen.

Hoping my guy wins,
Len

I sometimes enjoy looking to see what significant things have happened in the past on a specific day.
Today I noticed that Timothy Leary the psychedelic drug-taking psychologist was born on this day in 1920 and died sometime in 1996.
I’m not sure why this particular fact seemed to jump of the page at me, perhaps it’s because it dawned on me that the majority our political leadership in Washington D.C. grew up in the sixties. A time when Leary’s LSD experiment was in full swing.
Sex, drugs and rockn’ roll were words to live by. It certainly looks like that generation, with their “anything goes mentality” has once again thrown society into turmoil.
Communal living was also a fad of the times. The youth of that era seemed to give praise to socialist practices and leanings. To strive for the ideal of where everyone works for the common good.
When you put the economic and social crisis the United States faces at this time into the context of “look who’s running things, what can we expect”, it all seems a little clearer why the majority of the Washington leadership seems so eager to take us down the road to “Utopia.”
So October 22, the birthday of the father of LSD, should be a day to be remembered. I’m sure Leary would be proud of where his disciples have led us. I only hope we can hold on until a new generation, with more since than to fry their brain cells, can take over leadership and bring us back to a heritage we can be proud of again.
An October 22 Rant,
Len
